The AGDA Design Awards recognise the best design work in Australia each year. The 2017 awards were hosted in Canberra so an early concept based loosely on Canberra’s love of roundabouts as a starting point, the awards identity evolved into a play on data visualisations, with made up (but likely accurate) light-hearted statistics about designers exploding in an array of colour and pattern.
A bespoke display typeface based on a strict underlying circular grid was developed, over which multiple patterns could be laid, allowing for multiple variations across the primary poster set as well as supporting collateral such as awards dinner invites and speaker tours.
